Charles Tunniclffe RA was a prolific painter of birds and wildlife. He illustrated Tarka the Otter in 1932 and over 250 other titles including some absolutely stunning ladybird books.
We have a number of different prints, all of which date from 1949 and yet are in superb condition. They were for 'Our bird book' by Sidney Rogerson and Charles Tunnicliffe published two years earlier in 1947. They are all stunners.
He was an incredibly talented and by all accounts thoroughly lovely man. He lived for the majority of his life on Anglesey, where much of his work lives on in the Oriel Ynys Mon gallery after his very generous bequest. We are definitely going next time we are in vicinity.
